Cornell evened its 2011-12 record on Monday evening by exploding for 48 second half points to knock off Binghamton, 76-61. Freshman Shonn Miller led four double figure scorers with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Drew Ferry scored 16 with five 3-point field goals. Cornell's defense limited the Bearcats to 37 percent shooting overall and 24 percent from 3-point range, while forcing 19 turnovers.

Wroblewski, a second-team All-Ivy and third-team Capital One Academic All-American a season ago, is one of the nation's top point guards. He is averaging 8.0 points, 8.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game in two contests. Miller, the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week, paces the team in scoring (13.0 ppg.) and rebounds (6.0 rpg.), while senior Drew Ferry sits second on the squad in scoring (12.0 ppg.).

The Bulls are off to a 1-0 start with a 72-65 victory over Saint Peter's on Nov. 11, but have been off since the opener, giving head coach Reggie Witherspoon extra time to figure out how to defend Cornell's 3-point shooting, again a strength. The team has ranked among the national leaders in 3-pointers for the last six seasons and are hitting 9.0 per game at a .429 clip. through two games

Cornell holds a 27-14 edge all-time against Buffalo and has also played Ball State (0-1), Bowling Green (0-3), Eastern Michigan (1-2), Kent State (0-1), Miami (OH) (1-0), Northern Illinois (0-2), Ohio (1-3) and Toledo (1-5). THE LAST TIME THEY MET: Buffalo's bench outscored Cornell's 32-10 and provided it the lift needed to knock off the Big Red 78-66 at Newman Arena. Cornell's trio of Drew Ferry (18 points), Chris Wroblewski (16 points) and Errick Peck (16 points) combined for 50 points for the Big Red, playing their second straight strong game together. Ferry and Wroblewski each hit four 3-pointers, with Ferry adding four rebounds and Wroblewski being credited with six assists. Peck notched six rebounds and three assists in the loss. Adam Wire added six points and nine rebounds, while Mark Coury had seven points, six rebounds and two steals. The Big Red shot just 33 percent from the floor as a team, but stayed in the game throughout by hitting 10 3-pointers, committing just 10 turnovers and holding its own on the backboards against a bigger Bulls squad (39-38). The Bulls used balanced scoring to earn its eighth win of the year, as Zach Filzen posted 17 points and Byron Mulkey had a productive 16-point, eight-rebound, six-assist night. Tony Watson came off the bench for a career-high 11 points and Jawaan Alston notched 10 points, four assists and three rebounds as a reserve. Rochester, N.Y.-native Javon Mccrea had seven points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals in just 14 minutes.

LOOKING BACK AT THE BINGHAMTON GAME: After a slow start, the Cornell men's basketball team finished strong. A 22-2 run midway through the second half turned around the game and led the Big Red to a 76-61 victory on Monday evening at Newman Arena. Freshman Shonn Miller, who was named Ivy League co-Rookie of the Week earlier in the day, exploded for 19 points, eight rebounds, a steal and a block in 22 minutes off the bench to lead Cornell. Drew Ferry added 16 points, including five 3-pointers, while Eitan Chemerinski notched 13 points to set a new career high. Senior Chris Wroblewski had 12 points, eight assists and six rebounds. After shooting just 28 percent in the first half, Cornell shot a blistering 64 percent after the break. The Big Red forced 19 turnovers and made 10-of-22 shots from beyond the arc..

MILLER NAMED IVY LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK (NOV. 14): Cornell freshman forward Shonn Miller has been named the Ivy League co-Rookie of the Week award. His first varsity appearance was enough to catch the eye of the league after a solid opening effort at St. Bonaventure. Miller connected on all three of his field goals, including a 3-pointer, and added a team-high four rebounds in Cornell's 79-58 loss to the Bonnies. He added a blocked shot and a steal. The 6-7 forward shared the award with Dartmouth's Jvonte Brooks.

WROBLEWSKI NAMED TO CAPITAL ONE ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA THIRD TEAM: Chris Wroblewski was named to the Capital One Academic All-America third-team for his performance on the court and in the classroom during the 2010-11 season. He was one of two Ivy League players to earn the honor, joining Brown's Garrett Leffelman, a second-team member. Wroblewski was the fourth Cornellian to earn a spot on the Academic All-America team and the first non-senior. Jeff Gaca was a third-team pick in 1993, Lenny Collins was a third-team member in 2006 and Graham Dow earned first-team accolades in 2007.

WROBLEWSKI NAMED FINALIST FOR LOWE'S SENIOR CLASS AWARD: Senior guard Chris Wroblewski has been named one of 30 finalists for the Lowe's Senior Class Award it was announced today by the committee. With five 3-pointers at Seton Hall on Nov. 14, 2010, Cornell extended its streak of games with at least one 3-pointer to 600. The last time Cornell did not hit a 3-pointer was against Denison in the 1988-89 season opener (0-for-2). Since the 3-point shot came into effect in NCAA play during the 1986-87 season, Cornell has hit at least one shot behind the arc in 678 of 682 games, connecting on 4,220 treys, an average of 6.2 per game. The Red team's lone double figure scorer was Johnathan Gray with 10 points. Miles Asafo-Adjei scored nine points and had five assists and four rebounds. Jake Matthews scored eight points for assistant coach Mike Blaine's squad.

WHAT WAS LOST: Cornell said goodbye to three seniors last spring, as Mark Coury, Aaron Osgood and Adam Wire closed out their Big Red careers.
• Coury was one of the team's top post players in his two seasons on the court at Cornell, first as a reserve on last year's Sweet 16 squad in 2009-10, and last year as a regular in the rotation. A transfer from the University of Kentucky, Coury's biggest highlight came when he beat the shot clock to hit the game-winning basket with 35 seconds left at the Palestra to help Cornell sweep Penn a year ago.
• A team captain in 2010-11, Osgood was expected to be a major factor in the post, and was when healthy. One of the team's top scorers (7.3 ppg.) and rebounders (4.5 rpg.), Osgood played in 43 career games with eight starts, shooting 52 percent from the floor and averaging 3.0 points and 2.0 rebounds.
• Another team captain, Wire was a four-year letter winner who ranked among the top 20 all-time in steals and field goal percentage in school history. He totaled more that 100 steals and 100 assists and set career highs in scoring, rebounding and assists in his final season.
