PRINCETON, N.J. -- "Inside Ivy League Basketball," an online radio show dedicated to talking basketball in the Ancient Eight, launches Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. on BlogTalkRadio.com (blogtalkradio.com/insideivyleaguebasketball).
During the season, "Inside Ivy League Basketball" will take an in-depth look at all the news and notes surrounding Ivy men's and women's basketball on and off the courts. The Nov. 10 premiere episode tips off the 2011-12 Ivy League men's and women's basketball seasons and will feature men's and women's basketball season previews and interviews with the Harvard's Tommy Amaker and Princeton's Courtney Banghart, head coaches of the preseason favorites as voted on by Ivy media and SIDs.
"Inside Ivy League Basketball" is slated for 12 episodes with three Thursday shows (Nov. 10, Dec. 1 and Dec. 15) before moving to its weekly spot on Wednesdays beginning Jan. 11. Every episode will air live at 7 p.m. and will be available on-demand via BlogTalkRadio and IvyLeagueSports.com.
Each episode will be packed with highlights, statistics and expert analysis in its 'Around the League' segment. With its interview segments 'Program Profile,' 'Student-Athlete Spotlight' and 'Alumni Focus,' the show will visit with past and present players, coaches and administrators who impact Ivy League men's and women's basketball.
Fans and alumni will be able to interact with the show via its social media platforms -- Facebook (Inside Ivy League Basketball) and Twitter (@insideivyhoops) -- and can provide ideas and content for the show's 'Twitter Talk/Facebook Fodder' segment.
Selected episodes will feature men's or women's basketball trivia with chances to win a 20 percent discount coupon to the Ivy League's official online store at shop.ivyleaguesports.com.
"Inside Ivy League Basketball" comes on the heels on the success of "Inside Ivy League Football," which premiered on Sept. 14. Through eight episodes, the football edition of "Inside" has amassed nearly 1,600 listens.
"Ivy League fans want more content dedicated to Ivy League sports so it was natural to expand the 'Inside' concept to a show on Ivy League basketball," said Scottie Rodgers, Ivy League Associate Executive Director, Communications. "The buzz around basketball in our League continues to grow and that gives 'Inside Ivy League Basketball' a wonderful platform to tout the accomplishments of our student-athletes, coaches and alumni."
The basketball edition of "Inside" will be anchored by "Inside Ivy League Football" co-hosts Dan Loney and Brian Seltzer. Loney serves on the broadcast team for Princeton football and selected basketball games while Seltzer, a 2007 Penn graduate, is the primary play-by-play voice for the Quakers' football and men's basketball broadcasts.
