Nerlens Noel is the NATIONS #1 player in the country ESPN, SCOUT, RIVALS recently De-classified from the class of 2013 into the class of 2012. He has moved into the number one spot, which is well deserved. Not just because of potential but because of production he is rarely scored on because of his blocking ability. Derek Willis a 6-8 power forward of the 2013 class from Bullitt East High School, has just announced his commitment to the University of Kentucky. Willis said, "Kentucky is just the best fit for me and that's why I chose them," Willis chose UK over Purdue. Willis is UK's first commit for the 2013 class. Scout.com analyst Evan Daniels: “He runs the floor so well, is a solid athlete and has a legit jump shot that extends to 22 feet. For a guy his size he handles the ball well, can push the break and is capable of scoring with both hands around the basket.”

Derek Willis 6'9 from Bullitt East is one of the most highly touted recruits out of Kentucky in recent years. Willis was committed to Purdue but decommitmented in early fall. Willis is still considering Purdue, along with Kentucky, Louisville and Indiana.

2012 Kentucky signee Alex Poythress is one of 13 players placed on the watch list for the Naismith High School Player of the Year award. Poythress is averaging 30 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocks per game this season for undefeated Northeast High School in Clarksville, Tennessee.
UK prospect Shabazz Muhammad is also on the Naismith High School Player of the Year award watch list.

The energy at Butler High School was intense Tuesday night. Not because of what was on the court, but because of who was in the stands. Both Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino and Kentucky Head Coach John Calipari were in attendance to watch Bullitt East star Derek Willis. Bullitt East beat Butler 60-50, Willis scored 16, but the buzz is still strong surrounding the coaches brief encounter.
Fort Bend Travis vs Grace Prep set the scene for this play, at the Thanksgiving Hoopfest. Andrew Harrison is one of the top ranked players in the nation and proved it here. Harrison is a PG and is being recruited by Arizona, Baylor, Kentucky, Maryland, Texas and Villanova. Kentucky has another strong recruiting class after having the top class in 2011. Alex Poythress, Willie Cauley, and Archie Goodwin make up Kentucky's 2012 class.
