Ivy Awards: Miller and Chemerinski Earn Honors

Cornell's Shonn Miller was selected as the Co-Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row by the Ivy League Office. Eitan Chemerinski also was named to the League's Honor Roll. Below is an excerpt of the news release:

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Thanksgiving week is another busy seven days for Ivy League men’s basketball with 22 games on the slate with Ivy teams playing from Alaska to the Bahamas.

Five League squads are competing in early season tournaments with Dartmouth heading west to 49th state for its first-ever appearance in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage, Alaska while Harvard heading to Paradise, actually Paradise Island in the Bahamas for the first-ever Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. Brown finishes off its first-ever NIT Season Tip-Off appearance with two games on George Mason's home court, Princeton plays a trio of games at Bucknell in the TicketCity Legends and Penn hosts Pittsburgh and James Madison at The Palestra in the final games of the Philly Hoop Group Classic.

CO-ROOKIES OF THE WEEK
Cornell freshman forward Shonn Miller (Euclid, Ohio) averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 46 percent from the floor in helping the Big Red to a 2-1 week. Miller opened the week with career highs of 19 points and 8 rebounds to go along with a blocked shot and a steal in just 22 minutes in a win over Binghamton. He scored eight points and had two rebounds and a steal at Buffalo, then responded with 10 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots in a victory over defending America East champion Boston University. On the season, Miller is among the team leaders in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- For the second consecutive week to open the season, Big Red freshman forward Shonn Miller has been named the Ivy League co-Rookie of the Week in men's basketball it was announced by the conference office. Miller helped Cornell to a 2-1 record with his efforts off the bench.

Miller averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 0.7 steals in just 23.3 minutes per game. He shot 46 percent from the floor and 71 percent from the free-throw line. He reached double figures in two of the three contests. He shares the award with Dartmouth's Gabas Maldunas.

The freshman opened the week with career highs of 19 points and eight rebounds to go along with a block and a steal in a win over Binghamton. After scoring eight points and grabbing two rebounds against a talented Buffalo frontcourt, he scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked two shots to help Cornell knock off regining America East champion and preseason favorite Boston University.

Miller and the Big Red return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 22 when they face Delaware at 7 p.m.
