USA Today: Big Red-Blue Hens Preview

GAME NOTES: The Cornell Big Red travel to Wilmington this evening for a non- conference matchup with the Delaware Blue Hens.

Cornell is playing .500 basketball after splitting two wins at home and two losses on the road to open the season. In the Big Red's last outing, a 71-66 win over Boston University, Drew Ferry scored 14 points to lead Cornell offensively. Cornell will start a three-game homestand on November 27th, playing host to American University.

Delaware lost 79-69 to Villanova last Friday for its second loss of the season. In the setback, the Blue Hens were aided considerably by Devon Saddler's 27 points and four assists. Delaware, which shot 41.5 percent from the field in the loss, will host Lafayette on November 26th.

Delaware leads the all-time series with Cornell, 2-0.

Cornell shot 43.9 percent in the win against Boston, and alongside Ferry's 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting, Cornell also got 12 points from Eitan Chemerinski. Chris Wroblewski scored 10 points despite shooting just 1-of-7 from the field. He did hit 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. Cornell was outrebounded 35-32 by Boston, but also forced 16 turnovers with seven steals. Ferry leads the team with 11.8 ppg, while Chemerinski and Shonn Miller are averaging 11.3 and 11.0 ppg apiece.

Delaware fell victim to efficient Villanova scoring in the second half, as the Wildcats hit 15-of-29 shots from the field. The Blue Hens committed 23 personal fouls in the loss, alongside 13 turnovers which Villanova turned into 18 points. Delaware hit 27-of-65 shots form the field in the game, including 10-of-32 from three-point range. Saddler hit 11-of-26 from the floor, and had three three-pointers. Jarvis Threatt added 11 points and five assists, while Kyle Anderson came off the bench to score 12 points.

While Cornell has more of a body of work to judge from, Delaware is still searching for its offensive identity. Its apparent the Blue Hens rely heavily on the services of Saddler, who took a lot of shots against Villanova. Saddler and the rest of the Delaware supporting squad will need to be more efficient against a balanced Cornell club tonight.

Delaware looks for its first win of the season tonight in men's basketball when the Blue hens host Cornell at 7pm.

The Blue Hens are 0-2, the 6th straight season they've lost their first two games.

They'll take on a 2-2 Cornell squad that has wins over Binghamton and Boston University and has lost to Buffalo and St. Bonaventure.
