Continuing our regular series, A Date in Cornell Basketball History, we remember Eric Taylor's ('05) performance at Alumni Arena in Buffalo, New York on November 22, 2002.In front of 4,131 fans on the road at Buffalo, Eric Taylor ('05) put forth one of the best individual single game performances in Cornell basketball history as he finished with 30 points on 14/16 shooting from the floor and collecting 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Taylor had 22 points on a perfect 10/10 from the floor in the first half, guiding Cornell to a 78-72 win.
"That was the best offensive performance in the history of basketball. Eric Taylor looked like Bill Walton. At halftime I thought he may have been the best player in college basketball history. He did whatever he wanted," Buffalo head coach Reggie Witherspoon said after the game. "This is a great win for our program, to go out in front of 4,000 screaming fans and get a win," said former Cornell head coach Steve Donahue after the game.
Taylor, currently pursuing an MBA at Cornell, will be a new color commentator joining Barry Leonard on Cornell's radio and online video coverage of Cornell home games.
